Breaking barriers and driving change: Rachael Caddy speaks on IWD 2025

The Journey

In celebration of International Women’s Day 2025 at TOMD, we are proudly highlighting the inspiring achievements of our Head of Client Marketing, Rachael Caddy. Since joining in 2016, Rachael has been a trailblazer in driving change within our organisation, with an impressive career spanning over ten years. After initially joining us from the Institute of the Motor Industry as an Account Manager in 2016, her talents were quickly recognised, paving the way for her promotion to Head of Client Marketing.

During her time with TOMD, Rachael has not only excelled in her role but has also been a passionate advocate for equality in the workplace. From leading transformative projects for clients, to mentoring the rest of her team to ensure the highest standards are achieved, she consistently champions the importance of diverse leadership.

Together with other senior leaders at the firm, Rachael has played a key role in fostering an inclusive environment where individuals of both genders feel empowered to thrive. As we reflect on her impact, Rachael’s journey serves as a reminder that true change in leadership begins with those who challenge the status quo and pave the way for others.

Navigating obstacles with resilience

When speaking to us about International Women’s Day, Rachael described the challenges of a new role, and the responsibilities that come with it, “When I was promoted to Head of Client Marketing, it wasn’t just about me and my work anymore, but also the rest of the team. It can be a real challenge to juggle my time, to ensure that I am meeting my own client deadlines but also being on-hand to provide support and guidance where needed.” It was highlighted when speaking to Rachael the inclusive nature here at TOMD. We spoke about lending a helping hand, taking pressure off others, and how encouraging the team to get involved can go a long way, “I like to think I am approachable and down to earth, and my team know they can rely on me. I don’t like to let people flounder. We are a supportive team, and I often encourage everyone to get stuck in and help one another if someone is struggling.”

Turning points that transform

Becoming a mother or parent is never easy. It brings a new sense of focus and teaches you how to navigate both the expected and unexpected with grace. With the demands of a child, finding the right balance between professional responsibilities and personal life becomes an ongoing challenge.

Since returning after a year of maternity leave in January 2024, Rachael described it as a turning point in her professional life, realising the work sacrifices that had to be made to give the best for her daughter, all whilst keeping to her own personal standards and accepting the responsibilities of leadership.

Women leading

“At the end of last year, I managed a brand refresh for a legal client. We introduced a new tone of voice, enhanced their logo and colour schemes, refreshed their fonts and introduced new imagery. It was a really rewarding project, and one I personally love the style of. It makes a difference when the client is happy, especially when it is a whole team effort.” At TOMD we feel it is important to recognise the value of female leadership, and it is our top priority to ensure every detail reflects the company’s values of being progressive, pragmatic, and collaborative.

As a company, we strive to create an environment where female leaders are empowered and celebrated for their contributions, whether that is in leadership, mentoring, or our core business of marketing and communication. For many businesses, by championing diverse leadership, the results speak for themselves.

Accelerating’ towards equal opportunities

Rachael believes there has been encouraging movement towards women being offered equal opportunities in the workplace but says there are still improvements to be made, “It’s good to see more women in leadership roles, but there should be more. For any women wanting to make their own strides in marketing or leadership, remember to know your worth and that everyone brings different skills to a business.”

It is vitally important to remember that not all businesses are perfect and more can always be done to close the gap on equality. TOMD are right behind the accelerating action movement and trust our team feel like valued and respected members.
