Life at TOMD is fast-paced and varied. We’re incredibly lucky to have a strong, experienced and professional team of people who are driven and focused to deliver for our clients, all whilst supporting each other and instinctively knowing when someone needs that extra listening ear.
Celebrating everyone is important, and on this International Women’s Day (IWD) I’d particularly like to highlight the wonderful, encouraging and supportive women I work with.
Without limits
At TOMD everyone has the opportunity to make their mark, unconstrained. Pure drive and determination to be the best we can, in a supportive environment, combined with a genuine feeling of cohesion, understanding and freedom, is totally liberating and worth shouting about.
There’s a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment. One of the key pillars of ‘Inspire Inclusion’ – this year’s IWD theme – is the promotion of diversity in leadership and decision-making positions. Four women sit on our Senior Leadership Team and contribute hugely to critical business decisions, we collaborate regularly and work closely to drive the business forward. The Senior Leadership Team is supported by three formidable and experienced women in our Senior Team.
Inspiration in the early days
Over the years, I’ve been inspired by many key figures in the world of financial services. I’ve been lucky enough to attend many conferences in my career as a Chartered Wealth Manager and remember some hugely impressive presentations from female fund managers, all of whom were confident, knowledgeable and decisive. As a young adviser, I was encouraged and motivated by these formidable women. It whetted my appetite to deepen my economic, asset, investment and strategic thinking knowledge.
And some daily inspiration to help me focus
Today, two of my key sources of inspiration come from colleagues in the content team.
Cathy joined TOMD eight years ago following a 21-year career as an IFA and mortgage broker. She is hugely knowledgeable, professional and calm. Her levelheaded and pragmatic approach to creating content is exceptional – she’s unrufflable! Cathy works hard to craft our syndicated and bespoke financial service content for our clients. Her extensive technical knowledge enables her to produce complex and specialist financial articles, blogs, video scripts, website and social media content. Cathy works tirelessly on our calendar of content, generating ideas and empathising with the type of content and products advisers would want to share with their clients.
Chloe has been at TOMD for six years and is an excellent, diverse content creator working in both the FS and legal sectors. Chloe primarily focuses on bespoke content creation, from huge website projects (including our own) and in-depth campaigns to her extensive social media and SEO knowledge. The sheer volume and variety of work she tackles is remarkable. Her writing is creative and engaging, she is extremely thoughtful about the value-add for our clients and she really knows her stuff. Her ability to empathise and connect with our clients and spend the time understanding their requirements is second to none.
Forward thinking
In such a rapidly evolving environment it’s exciting to embrace change and think on your feet. We’re focused on delivering and providing content and marketing support to our clients, and to keep looking forward to the next opportunity. As a team,we thrive on developing purposeful content and we’re out to change the perception of content as purely a tick-box exercise. We advocate frequent, consistent, proactive and reactive client communications, which can be seamlessly delivered to your clients using our Content Distribution Platform.
We understand
Producing effective marketing content in such a highly regulated industry is no mean feat. We find that many firms experience difficulties in sourcing a content provider that fully understands all the hoops that must be jumped through to ensure compliance. We understand you and the industry in which you operate.
Experts in our field
As a financial firm operating in the evolving economic, regulatory and business environment, you can rest assured that we have our finger on the pulse of the industry and work tirelessly to develop a content marketing strategy to meet our clients’ objectives.
Short profile on Jo:
Our Director & Head of Technical & Content, Jo Trueman, qualified as a Chartered Wealth Manager in 2004. After working in financial advice for 16 years, she made the leap into marketing almost nine years ago and now lends her considerable financial and technical expertise to the production of our high-quality financial content, demand for which has skyrocketed in recent years.
Keeping up with the industry
“To retain my Chartered status, I need to complete over 35 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) per year. So, I take part in webinars, workshops and conferences, which really help to keep me up to date with the regulatory landscape, compliance requirements and what’s generally going on in the industry. I also closely follow the major financial newspapers and journals to give me a better idea of what’s trending and what consumers and financial advice clients want to read about.”
The best of both worlds
“I feel like marketing has given me the best of both worlds. I’m still immersed in the financial world every day and use my experience from my previous role to produce the kind of content I’d have appreciated when I was advising. Finance and marketing might look like opposite sides of the coin, but fundamentally my role is the same: helping our clients achieve their goals.”
