How animated videos can showcase company culture

In a busy market, and with increasing competition for attention, how can a law firm stand out and get its message across? When Minster Law approached TOMD seeking marketing materials to promote its employee benefits and company culture, we were happy to advise animated videos as the ideal solution to cut through the noise.

The brief - Animated videos

Minster Law is a UK-based law firm that specialises in working with insurance companies and their customers. The team are experts in dealing with personal injury law, including serious and catastrophic injury and accidents, as well as uninsured loss recovery.

The firm asked TOMD for a way to promote its employee benefits, initially seeking a set of static carousel images for use on LinkedIn. After reviewing the brief, we recommended a series of animated videos that could showcase the company culture in an accessible and fun way.

Emphasising employee benefits

Minster Law is rightly very proud to support its staff with a range of employee benefits to assist with recruitment and inform existing staff of available perks. These can be grouped into four primary categories:

  1. Health and family
  2. Protection
  3. Time
  4. Recognition.

 These areas cover policies relating to:

  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave policies
  • Flexible working agreements
  • Healthcare cash plan information
  • Death in service benefit
  • Annual bonuses
  • Internal celebrations for staff who’ve gone the extra mile
  • Volunteer days.

Accordingly, the target audience for the videos was potential employees (to assist with recruitment), as well as existing employees to ensure they are fully utilising their benefits. The fact there are so many benefits offered at Minster Law is an attractive feature for possible candidates and leads to staff feeling valued, appreciated and supported.  

Design takes centre stage

Minster Law needed the videos to be vibrant, engaging and concise. Brevity is crucial in these cases: viewers typically lose interest if posts are too long or over-saturated with information.

Videos have the advantage of being more engaging than text-heavy posts captions or images. By including animation and music, we could also make the graphics more interesting, while also communicating the key information in a relaxed and appealing way. Throughout each video, Minster Law’s branding is prominently displayed to reinforce the core message.

A design journey

Over the course of about four months, we had to think about how best to convey the key points of each video. We were delighted with the end result, which highlighted the benefits in a clear and vibrant way.
