In this post, we share how we turned a leading financial advisory firm’s outdated website into an appealing shopfront.
Ashwood Law Wealth Management is a well-established financial advisory firm based in the Midlands, well known for offering a wide range of financial services to clients across the UK.
The firm approached TOMD seeking a brand-new bespoke website, including tailored content and sourcing new imagery. Prior to redevelopment, the firm’s website was outdated and overly complicated. Saturated with too many pages, there were also navigation issues that made the user experience frustrating.
In short, the aim of the project was to create a modern, easy-to-navigate site that could attract and engage new visitors. The end result needed to emphasise the firm’s growth and reflect Ashwood Law’s stability and standing.

For a prospective client, the experience of a firm’s website can create a strong first impression.
When a firm’s site is cluttered or confusing, it sends the wrong message. In wealth management especially, clients are looking for clarity and reassurance, not another layer of complexity. A clean, well-structured site should make things feel simple from the start.
Our Content team specialises in honing the words on the screen. Typically, this starts with developing a clear tone of voice – something that sounds like your business. All pages should showcase the firm’s values; in the case of Ashwood Law, this meant writing text that was clear, friendly, honest and professional.
However well-crafted the written copy, a website will fail without careful attention to design. Key decisions include colour schemes and the choice of imagery. In this case, we kept Ashwood Law’s logo and brand colours but embellished and unified the appearance with new colours. The types of design elements featured on a website also communicate a firm’s values. At every level, the chosen imagery must also fit together as part of a central theme. For Ashwood Law, it took several iterations to find the ideal theme: the four elements. Our design specialists used professional stock imagery and created a bold landing page video to symbolise a journey.
Finally, the overarching structure, as well as the nitty gritty of the actual build is dependent on the technical expertise of skilled web designers. For Ashwood Law, our specialists developed a new sitemap that dramatically simplifies the user experience. The use of animations throughout the site adds more movement and dimension, while putting people front and centre, including through testimonials and adviser profiles, communicates one of the firm’s key values.
Ultimately, Ashwood Law now have a professional, modern website that reflects their expertise and highlights their values. As a well-established firm, they have plenty of achievements to showcase, and a simplified site map allows them to do this without overwhelming the user.
As with any construction job, a shiny new website is not much use if its benefits only last a few months! TOMD offers ongoing hosting support to iron out any wrinkles that appear. Crucially, the integration of Content Streams means the firm will get up-to-date news added to the site, keeping things relevant and dynamic.
